(Kenneth F. Gravdal, Thomas H. Franke)
Phonk&House are two dj’s/producers from Norway who teamed up in 2007,
each with different backgrounds within the electronic- music genre.
Tom House with his background as a trance- dj/-producer and Kay Phonk with his years as a hardhouse-/club-dj.
In late 2007 they founded the NEA- project (Norwegian Electro Association),
which was meant to be a society for Norwegian producers.
They kick- started the project with “Bad girls”,
a production which they soon got recognition for and the track got signed to the Presence Electro label.
Review from trackitdown.net:
“Following a recent TID chart-topper from Digital Interference, Presence Electro are back to wreak havoc with another release and this time they draft in NEA to serve up the sassy ‘Bad Girls’. Peak time bass thumper!”
After their release they soon got offered different remix-jobs.
Ending up making a remix for a rising Norwegian pop-artist in the summer of 2008 with co-producer Marius Andresen,
and remixing two tracks for a talented producer from Finland named CJ Daft.
Phonk&House are currently in close collaboration with Marius Andresen a.k.a. Van Dresen, creating new tracks.
The combination of their different skills and experience makes Phonk&House a solid dj duo.
They each have strong personalities, which shines through their performances as artists.
These guys will absolutely bring it all out there, pushing their own boundaries to satisfy the crowd,
making each live performance unforgettable.
Kay bringing it down with his dirty fidget- style and Tom pushing out the most catchy electro- house tunes,
these guys have an edge by giving the crowd a broad variety of super dirty beats within the electro- house genre.
Phonk&House are proud to pronounce that they have got their own radio show at RadioVolum Norway,
giving them the opportunity and joy of reaching more clubbers all over the world (their first show went on the air in October 2009).
With their huge passion and interest for music,
Phonk&House has managed to pleasure clubbers and fans at numerous events over the past years and
there is no doubt that they will continue to pleasure clubbers for many years to come.
Individual info:
Tom House (Thomas H. Franke):
For many years Tom House has been influencing the Norwegian clubbers with his energetic performance and his pumping music,
as well as he has been influenced by the Norwegian clubbers.
It all began in the early 90’s when Dj Bobo still was hot and Haddaway ruled the Norwegian music- charts with their immortal dance hits.
The dance- music generation was a fact. This influenced early trance pioneers, and big names like Tiësto, Paul van Dyk,
Blank&Jones and Ferry Corsten where established. These great artists where Tom House’s inspiration,
and played a key part in making him the Dj and producer he is today. He started producing and performing under the alias Dj Thrice.
At that time he didn’t know what kind of impact he was going to make on the clubbing- scene,
but in the later years it has shown he has become one of the clubbers favorite.
Tom House became a good friend with Amarezzo A.K.A. Amund K. Sivertsen who shared the same interests,
and they established a companionship in 1997 making electronic music.
After being new to the concept of making music for a few years they developed an interest in mixing music and
they soon got their passion for Dj’ing. Over the years sadly the productions between them has been few,
due to their time with their daily work and careers.
In the early 2000 they met Stephan Möbius and founded Eventmakers.
After some years they decided to do their separate things.
Tom House continued his career as Dj/producer and shortly after joined Eventmakers again, but now as an artist.
At the Summerparade 2005 he asked Dj Cortez to join him in a Back2Back Dj Team and their performance was striking.
This made them a solid team, not just as Dj’s, but also as co- producers.
In 2007 Tom House started the NEA project (the Norwegian Electro Association),
which he founded with Kay Phonk. They are currently working together as co- producers and Back2Back dj’s,
using the name Phonk&House and pumping out hot electro- house to the masses.
Tom House is also currently working close with Marius Andresen a.k.a. Van Dresen,
using his old alias Thrice in new trance productions.
They already have got support from names like Three Drives and Cor Fijneman.
Kay Phonk (Kenneth F. Gravdal):
Kay started his career at the youth clubs, and got inspired when he could see what dance music was able to do with the crowd.
As a teenager he was asked to be a guest dj at one of the many nightclubs in Oslo, this was in the mid 90’s.
His main influence was artists like Klubbheads, Dj Jean, Blank & Jones etc.
Kay Phonk actually laid his cd’s in the closet in 2002 and told everyone he knew that ”this was it, I’m through with music”.
He kept his promise for 2 years, until he late 2004 bought his first turntables and mixer and got back into business.
In 2006 he joined his friends in Eventmakers and was given the role as company manager.
2007 was I bit of a break through for Kay as he got booked for his first real gig as ”Dj Ladvarg K”, at Keep It Tidy – Traffic Jam.
From this point on he has been going strong, changed his name to Kay Phonk struggling and pushing himself to get better as a dj.
He played Hard- House and later on Hard- Funk, and focused in these genres only,
but as the time went on, he was asked by Tom House if he wanted to produce a track.
With a little or no idea on how this worked, he said yes.
In June 2008 he thought that enough was enough and quitted his job in Eventmakers to concentrate on the future as an artist.
From this point on he changed his style to house and specially electro- and fidget- house,
making energic mix- sets and producing hot house tracks with his great friend and co-producer Tom House.
